What you need

oz bread flour

tsp vanilla

oz butter
egg

cup powdered sugar

oz milk

oz instant yeast

oz granulated sugar

oz salt

egg yolk

caramel
bunch berry

cup full fat milk
Instructions
1: To the bowl of a stand mixer, add all dough ingredients except for butter. Using the dough hook attachment, mix until the dough comes together. Then add the butter a few pieces at a time and knead until fully incorporated. 2: Let the dough rise for 1.5-2hrs or until doubled in size. 3: Meanwhile, make your custard. Whisk together all custard ingredients except for milk. Then slowly add in the hot milk and whisk until combined. Continue whisking over a double boiler until the custard thickens (this took me 15-20mins). Remove from heat, cover, and let it cool. 4: Divide the dough into 8 equal sections, shape them into balls, and gently flatten so they are about 3.5-4” in diameter. 5: Place the dough inside 4” ring molds (optional). Cover and let rise for 30mins-1hr or until the dough is noticeably puffy. 6: Preheat the oven to 350F. Make an indent in the center of each bun, fill it with custard, and brush the edges with egg wash. Bake for 15-17mins or until the custard has set and the buns are golden brown. 7: Microwave the caramels in 10sec increments until fully melted and drizzle over the baked buns. Top with powdered sugar, more caramel pieces, and any other toppings you desire.View original recipe
